The 5 best sentences you’ll ever read

“Socialism is a philosophy of failure,

the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy,

its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery..”

— Winston Churchill

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you’ll ever read: Unfortunately, most voters don’t know this.

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them; and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Can you think of any reason for not sharing this?

Neither could I.

Vote Like Your Future Depends On It – Because it Does

2012 is finally upon us and while many are making resolutions for personal ambitions, there is one task that we should all resolve to do in the new year: vote like our future depends on it, because the truth is it does. For far too long, we as Americans had given in to the status quo and we had come to accept the lack-luster representation we were receiving from our elected officials. In 2009, the tea party movement sparked a wave across the country that opened the eyes of many Americans. We finally began to speak up against cronyism, corruption, and irresponsibility. 2012 will be no different. As one of the most important election years in American history begins, we wanted to share with you what some local tea party activists are looking for in their elected officials as we prepare to go to the polls over the course of the new year.

Jim Bratten – Evansville, IN
Indiana State Coordinator

“The “qualities” I look for in an ideal presidential candidate are very simple, very straight forward. The first of these is that he or she must be conservative. By this I don’t mean the popular press’ idea that this term describes an ideology, because it isn’t. Conservatism is a way of life, a way of thinking about the world and how it works; a set of beliefs and values. You don’t just “become” a conservative because you need to move right to win an election. Conservatives have principles.

Conservatives are moral people. Everyone is prone to human error and makes mistakes; conservatives admit their errors and take responsibility for their actions. They believe in a “right” and a “wrong”, and therefore, absolutes. They are honest, charitable, look for the substance in people (not surface impressions). Because they are “conservative”, they believe in this country as founded. The conservative believes in individual liberty, rights endowed by our Creator, and responsibility to one’s creed and country. They also believe in the natural order of things: God, family and country. After that comes everything else: career, party and whatever etceteras exist.

In a nutshell, it all starts with qualities.”

Marianne Gasiecki – Mansfield, OH
Ohio State Co-Coordinator
“Each Presidential candidate has something to offer and, some more than others, are a desperately needed change from Barack Obama.  As a conservative, there are certain character qualities and basic understandings that are important for me to see in a candidate, even more so than answers to specific policy questions.  It’s these basic understandings and quality of character that determine a person’s response to policy questions:

  • Consistently conservative values in opinion and lifestyle, both public and private.
  • A clear understanding of the free market system and it’s importance in a growth economy.
  • Faith in liberty, and the opportunities and sense of responsibility that liberty will provide in a truly free society.
  • A clear understanding of the threats to our liberties and the need to address them, both here and abroad.
  • True leadership skills-the ability to make tough decisions in tough times with integrity and clarity.
  • A clear understanding of the limits, and the responsibilities, of the Federal government.
  • A belief in the greatness of our country, and the principles that made it great.

I could continue, but a basic understanding we must all have is that there is no such thing as the perfect human being, nor the perfect candidate, only the best.  As Americans, we must always set the bar high, strive for the best and choose a President, Senator, State Rep. etc., that reflects that American spirit.”

Mark Herr – Memphis, TN
Tennessee State Coordinator
“This individual clearly articulates a vision for rediscovering, owning, and preserving the American Dream of a Self Governing society.  This person is governed by and governs with the self-governing principles of a limited, constitutionally instituted, fiscally responsible executive branch that preserves individual liberty and free markets, thus honoring the consent of the governed.  He or she compromises only when doing so does not undermine or is not counter-intuitive to his or her governing principles.  The President of the United States is not a ‘me’ player, but a team player; they realize they cannot fulfill their chief duty to preserve and defend the U.S. Constitution without the People on their team.  Their undying commitment to preserve and defend the American Dream of a Self Governing Society will become the hallmark and legacy of their service on behalf of the People of the United States of America.”

We hope that you will take some time to really think about what qualities a candidate needs to possess as we embark on this very important year. We will continue to fight for our core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government, and Free Markets. We hope that you will continue this fight with us. Our future depends on it!

Happy New Year

by Glenn Beck (glennbeck.com)

When I came back from my vacation last year, I laid out several plans for 2011. Over the past year, you have seen many of these plans come to fruition. I told you that I would no longer be looking towards elected officials for solutions and instead would look to individuals to chart the course and create real change in the world.

It all started in June when I left Fox News to launch my own independent network, GBTV (gbtv.com). The network has been dedicated to bringing you the truth that you can’t get anywhere else – whether it be news stories ignored by the mainstream media, commentary on what is really going on in the world, or even comedy that seeks to appeal to people of all political viewpoints and break away from the traditional liberal entertainment industry.

In 2012, you will see GBTV continue to grow as a network. We’re adding new shows like Independence USA, a reality program that shows a real family finding out what life “off the grid” might be like. There are some other big announcements coming, but there are people in my office who would be pretty mad if I let the cat out of the bag this early (and yes, I’ve hired so many people in 2011 that when enough of them yell at me I listen. Sometimes.)

But aside from great programming on GBTV, I’ve made a lot of personal changes in 2011 as well. I traveled to Israel for the Restoring Courage events to stand with Israel and the Jewish people in one of the most defining moments of my life so far. Next year, I’ll be bringing people from around the country to my new home of Dallas, TX for “Restoring Love” – a three day event where thousands will gather and perform acts of service and charity across the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We’ll also have an amazing evening of celebration, inspiration, and reflection on July 28th at Cowboys Stadium. This is something you will NOT want to miss as individuals stand together and fundamentally transform the country like never before.

I also launched Mercury One at the end of 2011, and this non-profit initiative will be a big part of my life going into 2012 and beyond. The organization will not only help me organize the “Restoring Love” event, but it will carry that spirit of service into places across the country and the globe. It will give you the chance to roll up your sleeves and get involved, as well as a chance to support others who are looking to make a difference. This is something I have been actively working on for over a year and an idea I have had for a very, very long time. You’ve been telling me “Ok, Glenn. I get it! I know the problems – but what can I do?” Mercury One is the answer. Stay tuned because there are some big things coming in 2012.

I’d like to leave you with a story I read on radio when I came back after the holidays last January. Read it and look at all the things we have done together over the past two years. I hope you can see how everything we have been working towards is about solutions born in the individual.

A man decided that he would change the world.
But, he wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change the country.
But, he wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change his community.
But, he wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change his street.
But, be wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change his family.
But, he wasn’t successful.
So he decided to change himself.
AND HE WAS SUCCESSFUL.
AND HIS FAMILY CHANGED AND THEY AFFECTED THEIR STREET.
AND THE PEOPLE ON THE STREET AFFECTED THEIR COMMUNITY.
AND THE PEOPLE OF THE COMMUNITY AFFECTED THEIR COUNTRY.
AND THE PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY AFFECTED THE WORLD.

And gang, I promise you, we are so close to seeing things turn around in this country and changing for the better. We just need to start with ourselves, then our families, and then our communities. If we can start at home, each and every one of us, we can change the world. We will change the world.

2012 is going to be an incredible journey.

Glenn

Why We Must Unite And Support The Republican Nominee No Matter What!

By Jay Taylor, Vice President of Political Strategy – Liberty Alliance, LLC

We post many articles on ConservativeByte that are critical of candidates who drift away from core conservative values. Some readers are disappointed when we don’t present their favorite candidate in a completely positive light. Unlike the mainstream media however, we are obligated to be fair and objective. Personally, I want to see the most conservative candidate win the nomination. However, I will support whomever wins the nomination. Let me explain why you should as well.

As everyone can observe, the primary process is getting nasty. Keep in mind that this process was designed to give us the best candidate. Candidates have to fight and prove they are the best. At the end of the day however, we will have a nominee that not every conservative can agree to support. This brings me to a very important goal that all conservatives must seek to achieve: We must unite and support the Republican nominee no matter what!

If we are going to ensure our country’s survival, we must remember just three letters—ABO: Anybody But Obama. If we were really honest with ourselves, Hillary would have been a better Democrat than Obama. Misguided as she is, she is an American and does not hate America like Obama does. That’s what I mean when I say, Anybody But Obama! But I digress. Let’s talk about the various candidates.

I made a simple list of each candidate’s strengths and weaknesses to see if there was anyone I could rule out. I found one word for their strengths and one word for their weaknesses to make it easy. I discovered that any of them, even with their weaknesses, would be far better than Obama. I know this isn’t perfect, but let me know what you think:

 CANDIDATE                       STRENGTH                              WEAKNESS

Gingrich                                          Intelligence                              Baggage

Romney                              Business                                  Populist

Paul                                  Institutionalist                           Isolationist

Bachmann                            Tea Party                                Shrill

Perry                                 Executive                                Immigration

Santorum                             Values                                   Youthfulness

Huntsman                             Bipartisan                                Centrist

You can see where a candidate’s weakness could hinder them in a campaign against Obama. However, their strength is certainly better than Obama. Newt Gingrich always has an intelligent argument and is quick-witted. Unfortunately, he has a past full of baggage that keeps conservatives from getting completely behind him. Mitt Romney has real experience as a governor, businessman, and former Presidential candidate. Unfortunately, he has a bit of a populist leaning on his political philosophy. Ron Paul is a staunch constitutionalist, but has an isolationist philosophy that is way over the top. Michelle Bachmann is a leader of the TEA party, but can come across as petty and harsh—especially in the debates. Rick Perry has real executive experience as a Governor, but lost several supporters when he could not successfully explain his position on immigration. Rick Santorum holds to conservative values more tenaciously than any other candidate, but his youthful appearance has doomed him to not be taken seriously. Jon Huntsman has a history of being able to work with Democrats to get things done, but this means that he is a centrist and this is also a serious weakness.

Sadly, I’ve heard people say that they won’t support this candidate or that candidate it they are nominated. I really find this disheartening. I am afraid for our country that some of you won’t come together to defeat Obama. Our country is teetering on the edge of losing everything that our founding fathers and veterans have fought to achieve. I hope these conservatives will overcome their pride and stubbornness to stop this communist in the White House.

We currently have a radical un-American President who did not answer any questions about his radical past and his questionable associations. So, it’s only logical to make sure our candidate is completely vetted. No candidate is going to be perfect, but we need to know each of his or her weaknesses. We must measure them with our own values as well as how well they will match up against Obama. Once we get a nominee, we must create a united front. United we stand, divided we fall.

Now is Our Time !

Now is our time. Our campaign is gaining momentum as we approach the Iowa caucuses because our conservative message is resonating with Iowans and Americans around the country.

While my opponents continue to focus on slaying each other I have been on the ground in Iowa meeting with concerned citizens, like yourself, who are worried about the future of the United States.

We need a President who is not afraid to make the tough decisions necessary to fix our economy and who will stand up to the “Washington elite”. We cannot afford another President like Barack Obama who offers temporary gimmicks instead of real solutions. With our children and grandchildren counting on us to make the hard decisions needed to secure their future, this total lack of leadership cannot be allowed to continue.

The reality is this: America is in turmoil. In just over two years, Barack Obama and his liberal allies have nearly crippled our economy by doubling the deficit, increasing federal spending by 21.4% and forcing their socialist agenda like Obamacare on all Americans.

I am proud of the United States of America and firmly believe that our best days remain ahead of us, which is why I will not simply sit back and allow the Obama Administration to hold our nation back. It will not be easy, and it will not happen overnight, but together we can turn our country around.

I am grateful for your continued support, and am glad to have you by my side as we continue on this journey to the White House.

Sincerely,
Michele Bachmann

Dear Friends,

Only 24 days remain until the Iowa caucuses and our campaign is ramping up its efforts! Despite what the elitist media and my establishment-backed opponents would have you believe, Iowa is still anyone’s game and we are rising in the latest polls.

With your help, I can prove to the liberal media that grassroots conservatives like you not only stood with me in Ames, Iowa, but also stand with me in the national polls and support my campaign with your generous contributions.

In fact, according to some of the latest polls, 70% of likely early primary voters are still undecided in this race!

That’s why we must ensure our hard-charging constitutional conservative campaign – not some milquetoast opponents like Mitt Romney, Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich – wins over these undecided Iowa voters.

With so much on the line for our nation, struggling Americans deserve a consistent conservative to solve our economic problems and create jobs — not the same empty rhetoric offered up by my opponents and the Democrats. We need a proven leader who will stand up to the “Washington elite”.

I am the consistent conservative running for President, and you can always count on me to stay true to my word.

As a mother of five and foster mother to 23, I need to prove to the liberal media that grassroots conservatives like you not only stood with me in Ames, Iowa, but also stand with me in the national polls and support my campaign with your generous contributions.

This election is the most critical of our time and it’s not a year to settle for just anyone; this is the time to restore the principles that once made our nation great.

The next step on the road to the White House is the Iowa caucus, and we’re going all in. Join us as we push forward to victory!

Sincerely,
Michele Bachmann

OWS, You Can’t Have Everything !

Call it an occupational hazard, but I can’t look at the Occupy Wall Street protesters without thinking, “Who parented these people?”

As a culture columnist, I’ve commented on the social and political ramifications of the “movement” – now known as “OWS” – whose fairyland agenda can be summarized by one of their placards: “Everything for everybody.”

Thanks to their pipe-dream platform, it’s clear there are people with serious designs on “transformational” change in America who are using the protesters like bedsprings in a brothel.

Yet it’s not my role as a commentator that prompts my parenting question, but rather the fact that I’m the mother of four teens and young adults. There are some crucial life lessons that the protesters’ moms clearly have not passed along.

Here, then, are five things the OWS protesters’ mothers should have taught their children but obviously didn’t, so I will:

Life isn’t fair:

The concept of justice – that everyone should be treated fairly – is a worthy and worthwhile moral imperative on which our nation was founded. But justice and economic equality are not the same. Or, as Mick Jagger said, “You can’t always get what you want.”

No matter how you try to “level the playing field,” some people have better luck, skills, talents or connections that land them in better places. Some seem to have all the advantages in life but squander them, others play the modest hand they’re dealt and make up the difference in hard work and perseverance, and some find jobs on Wall Street and eventually buy houses in the Hamptons . Is it fair? Stupid question.

Nothing is “free”:

Protesting with signs that seek “free” college degrees and “free” health care make you look like idiots, because colleges and hospitals don’t operate on rainbows and sunshine. There is no magic money machine to tap for your meandering educational careers and “slow paths” to adulthood, and the 53 percent of taxpaying Americans owe you neither a degree nor an annual physical.

While I’m pointing out this obvious fact, here are a few other things that are not free: overtime for police officers and municipal workers, trash hauling, repairs to fixtures and property, condoms, Band-Aids and the food that inexplicably appears on the tables in your makeshift protest kitchens. Real people with real dollars are underwriting your civic temper tantrum.

Your word is your bond:

When you demonstrate to eliminate student loan debt, you are advocating precisely the lack of integrity you decry in others. Loans are made based on solemn promises to repay them. No one forces you to borrow money; you are free to choose educational pursuits that don’t require loans, or to seek technical or vocational training that allows you to support yourself and your ongoing educational goals. Also, for the record, being a college student is not a state of victimization. It’s a privilege that billions of young people around the globe would die for – literally.

A protest is not a party:

On Saturday in New York, while making a mad dash from my cab to the door of my hotel to avoid you, I saw what isn’t evident in the newsreel footage of your demonstrations: Most of you are doing this only for attention and fun. Serious people in a sober pursuit of social and political change don’t dance jigs down Sixth Avenue like attendees of a Renaissance festival. You look foolish, you smell gross, you are clearly high and you don’t seem to realize that all around you are people who deem you irrelevant.

There are reasons you haven’t found jobs:

The truth? Your tattooed necks, gauged ears, facial piercings and dirty dreadlocks are off-putting. Nonconformity for the sake of nonconformity isn’t a virtue. Occupy reality: Only 4 percent of college graduates are out of work. If you are among that 4 percent, find a mirror and face the problem. It’s not them. It’s you.

Bachmann: With Cain out, voters will ‘come home’ to my campaign

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 6, 2011 by poorrichards2012blog

By Peter Schroeder and Erik Wasson

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) Sunday argued that she deserves to inherit the support formerly given to pizza mogul Herman Cain, who bowed out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination on Saturday.

Bachmann said her campaign has been in talks with Herman Cain’s suspended campaign about a potential endorsement, adding that she was optimistic Cain backers will take a second look at her candidacy.

“A lot of Herman Cain supporters have been calling our office and they’ve been coming over to our side,” she said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I think they see my voice will be most reflective of his.”

Cain suspended his campaign Saturday, citing various sexual allegations against him, which he denied, as making it impossible to continue.

Bachmann said Tea Party voters will ultimately “come home” to her campaign and boost her bid for president at the upcoming Iowa caucuses.

“When they find out I’m the candidate that stands the most for their values, that’s when they come home,” she said on CNN. “We’ve got 30 days [until the Iowa caucuses], that’s an eternity in this race.”

Bachmann also spoke on Fox News Sunday where she described herself as “the true Tea Party candidate in the race.

Bachmann used her appearances on Fox and CNN to go after frontrunner Newt Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

She said, unlike her, that both supported Obama’s healthcare reform plan, Wall Street bailouts and actions to mitigate climate change. Because of this, they are not qualified to take on President Obama, she argued.

“I am the only one who can do it because I am the only one who is not compromised,” she said on Fox.

She said she would repeal “Obamacare,” Wall Street reform and “abolish” the tax code.

She accused Gingrich of “influence peddling” and receiving more than $100 million per year for lobbying activities. She said because he supported a plan by President George W. Bush to reform immigration that Gingrich is in favor of “amnesty” for illegal immigrants.

On CNN, Bachmann said both Romney and Gingrich had supported “the essence of Obamacare.” “I’m the biggest fighter against Obamacare,” she said.

Socialism … Has a Record of Failure So Blatant That Only an Intellectual Could Ignore or Evade It

By Dr. Thomas Sowell

The current Occupy Wall Street movement is the best illustration to
date of what President Barack Obama’s America looks like. It is an
America where the lawless, unaccomplished, ignorant and incompetent
rule. It is an America where those who have sacrificed nothing pillage
and destroy the lives of those who have sacrificed greatly.

It is an America where history is rewritten to honor dictators,
murderers and thieves. It is an America where violence, racism,
hatred, class warfare and murder are all promoted as acceptable means
of overturning the American civil society.

It is an America where humans have been degraded to the level of
animals: defecating in public, having sex in public, devoid of basic
hygiene. It is an America where the basic tenets of a civil society,
including faith, family, a free press and individual rights, have been
rejected. It is an America where our founding documents have been
shredded and, with them, every person’s guaranteed liberties.

It is an America where, ultimately, great suffering will come to the
American people, but the rulers like Obama, Michelle Obama, Harry
Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, Jesse
Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, liberal college professors, union bosses and
other loyal liberal/Communist Party members will live in opulent
splendor.

It is the America that Obama and the Democratic Party have created
with the willing assistance of the American media, Hollywood, unions,
universities, the Communist Party of America, the Black Panthers and
numerous anti-American foreign entities.

Barack Obama has brought more destruction upon this country in four
years than any other event in the history of our nation, but it is
just the beginning of what he and his comrades are capable of.

The Occupy Wall Street movement is just another step in their plan for
the annihilation of America.

“Socialism, in general, has a record of failure so blatant that only
an intellectual could ignore or evade it.”

President Obama’s super committee failure is another example of why we need a REAL LEADER in the White House.  I am that leader.

Barack Obama insisted that the committee be established.  Now, after months of drama, breathless news stories, and lots of political haggling, it appears that President Obama’s super committee will make no recommendations that will seriously reduce the size of government and put America back to work.

This latest Administration failure is yet another reason why I am running for President of the United States.

I’ve said it before many times. I am a businessman.  I solve problems for a living.  It isn’t in my nature to leave a problem as critical as cutting government and saving our economy up to a super committee made up of career politicians.

Doing so is a recipe for failure.  And that is what we have today.

Barack Obama pledged to cut our deficit in half.  He failed.  Now our deficit is $1.5 trillion dollars a year!

Obama forced Congress to establish the super committee and then said “NO” to any serious plan to cut spending.   He has failed the American people once again.

Enough is enough.

We must immediately cut spending – for real – and remove the barriers to growth. We must simplify the tax code, which my ‘9-9-9 Plan’ does.

According to former Reagan Treasury official Gary Robbins, of Fiscal Associates, the ‘9-9-9 Plan’ will expand our GDP by $2 trillion, create 6 million new jobs, increase business investment by one-third, and increase wages by 10 percent.

My plan to renew America is bold and innovative.  Unlike Barack Obama, I have the solutions and leadership experience to save our economy and create jobs.

When I am elected, you won’t see me delegating any decisions to a super committee and then heading out to play golf. I will work hard to serve the American people with diligence and common sense solutions. But before I can go to Washington and roll up my sleeves, I must win the Republican nomination.

Please stand with me and help me win this nomination.

Thank you and God bless.

Sincerely,
